The California Department of Justice now accepts the instructor credential of NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home as meeting the requirements to apply for DOJ CCW Instructor. 

 

This course includes the Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home.

 

EQUIPMENT

• Handgun (9mm or .38 caliber or larger).  Full size or compact recommended. 

• 3 magazines minimum

• 500 rounds ammo  (Basic class - 250 rounds/Instructor class - 250 rounds)

• Strong-side, Outside the Waistband (OWB) belt holster.  We recommend Bladetech or Vedder holsters.

• Sturdy belt that fits your pants belt loops and holster snugly.

• Tactical style pants with cargo pockets for extra ammo.

• Closed toe shoes

• Eye protection

• Electronic hearing protection (must be amplified).  We recommend Howard Leight or Walkers.

• Brimmed hat

• Front opening cover garment that covers holstered handgun.  Should be of medium weight.

• Kneepads

• Notepad, pen and highlighter

• Laptop with charger

• Folding chair (optional)

• Sack Lunch 

• At least one additional alternative carry devices (i.e. purse, shoulder, appendix, IWB).
