Process:  Simply apply at your local issuing agency, get approved, and enroll in a class.

Submission of the initial application and timely training and submission of the training documentation is the sole responsibility of the CCW applicant.

All of our CCW Initial and Renewal classes are SB2 compliant.  All of our CCW classes are led by instructors who are certified by the California Department of Justice, Bureau of Firearms, Carry Concealed Weapon Program, as DOJ CCW Instructors.

We are approved by most agencies (police and sheriff) within the counties of San Francisco, Contra Costa, Alameda, Marin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Joaquin, Amador, Yolo, Sacramento and more.  Once you are approved, the issuing agency will either provide you with a list of trainers, or ask you to take training with an SB2 compliant training providers.

This CCW class is our two-day, 16 hour, premium course which teaches the skills necessary to safely carry a concealed firearm in public.  This course includes live-fire range training and presentation from the holster.

Day One of this two day class, takes place in an indoor classroom.  Complimentary coffee, breakfast snacks, and bottled water are provided.  Students learn the legal considerations for carrying a concealed handgun, including a comprehensive look into the laws regarding the use of lethal force, civil and criminal liability, carry restrictions, and more.

Day Two of this two-day class is a detailed shooting course, and shooting is from the holster.  Students learn to safely present the handgun from the holster, perform emergency reloads, clear malfunctions, address threats to the side and rear, how to apply the fundamentals of shooting to result in accurate fire, and more.

Please remember the California CCW permit is specific to the exact gun(s) you wish to carry.  The Make, Model, Caliber and Serial Number of each gun will be listed on your permit.  These are the only guns you are allowed to carry.  Additionally, the gun(s) must be registered in your name with the State of California prior to applying and putting them on your application.

As an added bonus, these classes include the approved training for the non-resident Utah, Arizona, Florida and Virginia permits at no additional charge.  Each of these permits are recognized in at least 32 states outside of California.  You do not need to apply at all 32 states.  Carry confidently in the following states:

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Applications and instructions for the Utah and Arizona non-resident permits are available at class.  Utah requires one completed fingerprint card be sent with the application and Arizona requires two fingerprint cards.

Fingerprinting service is available at the class.   Please purchase your fingerprinting at this link:  Fingerprinting

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

(Student must bring all items listed to class on Day One for our mandatory Gear Check)

• Valid California DMV issued driver's license or ID.

• Handgun(s) - Revolver or semiautomatic (full-size or compact, no tiny pocket pistols please).  The State of California requires that the guns you list on your permit be registered to you with the State. Depending on the issuing agency, there may be restrictions on gun type, modifications, and/or optics.  Please review the issuing agencies requirements as shown on their website.

Please Note:  Effective immediately, the Richmond Rod & Gun Club Board of Directors has voted to prohibit the presence of the SIG Sauer P320 platform - including all variants such as the M17/M18 and any aftermarket configurations - anywhere on RRGC premises. This is a total facility ban that applies to all club ranges, parking areas, buildings, and event spaces, regardless of whether the firearm is intended for use or remains stored in a bag or vehicle.

• If you are listing more than one gun on your permit, please select one of the guns to be your main training gun for the class.  Please have at least three magazines for this main training gun.  Your secondary and tertiary handguns (if any) can have two magazines.

• Twin magazine belt carrier and three magazines (minimum) or one speed-loaders if using a revolver.

Strong side outside-the-waistband KYDEX belt holster (no cordura nylon or leather) for each gun you wish to qualify with.  We do not allow Blackhawk Serpa holsters or other brands of similar design that require the trigger finger to manipulate a button to release the gun.  This is the most important piece of equipment, and if you have questions, please call Denise at 408-687-3791.

• Ammunition - 150 rounds for one main training gun plus an additional 50 rounds for each additional gun you want on your permit.  Note:  Contra Costa applicants need only bring one training gun and no additional guns to class.

Special Note for Contra Costa Sheriff's Office Applicants: You need to bring all the guns you are registering on your permit.  You will train and practice the Contra Costa qualification with each of the guns.  Once you submit your paperwork to the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office, they will schedule a qualification for you at their range.

• Wrap-around eye protection and electronic hearing protection. We recommend Howard Leight or Walkers  amplified headphones.

Front opening jacket or vest, medium weight, that covers the holstered handgun.

• Baseball cap or visor.

• Sack lunch, hydration and snacks to support your needs for each day.

• Closed-toe sport shoes or tactical boots.

• Notepad and pen (black ink)

• Folding chair for Day Two of 16 hr. class

Students are required to bring the above listed equipment to the first day of class for our mandatory gear check.  You must also bring all guns you want on your permit to class on the first day of class. Please do not bring any ammunition into the classroom.   Leave ammo secured in your vehicle until you are directed to retrieve it.

Guns must be unloaded and cased when entering the training facility.  No holstered handguns please.

We only allow holster use on the firing range under the supervision of our instructor staff during the

live-fire portion of the class.

Please note:  We train rain or shine, so dress appropriately for weather.  Layers work best, and shirts should tuck into your pants and not obstruct the holster.

This is a limited seating course.  Enrollment requires preregistration and prepayment of course fee to book a slot.  See our Refund Policy.
