This series includes all the prerequisites to become certified as an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and/or an NRA Certified Shotgun Instructor.  Earn extra money working part-time or start your own business as a firearms instructor.  The industry is wide open and there are many opportunities for new instructors.  In these uncertain times, gun sales have sky rocketed and new gun owners are looking for training.  Defensive Accuracy, LLC has been training the folks in the safe and responsible use of firearms for over 16 years.  Only NRA Certified Instructors are eligible for Lockton Affinity's Instructor Plus Insurance.

Monday, July 11 - 8am to 5pm –.Basic Pistol – ILT.  This class is one of the two prerequisites for all NRA Certified Pistol Instructor candidates.  This class may also be purchased as a stand-alone class, and is designed for beginner's to learn gun safety and the fundamentals of shooting.

Course fee if purchased individually:  $259.

Tuesday, July 12 - 8am to 3pm – Basic Instructor Training (BIT).  This class is mandatory for all new NRA Instructors and current instructors adding a new discipline who have not successfully completed BIT within the last two years.

Course fee if purchased individually:  $100.

Wednesday, July 13 - 8am to 6pm – Certified Pistol Instructor.  Students must have successfully completed both Basic Pistol-ILT and Basic Instructor Training (BIT) to enroll. Candidates may purchase the Monday Basic Pistol class and the Tuesday BIT class to fulfill these prerequisites. 

Course fee if purchased individually: $359.

 

Thursday, July 14 - 8am to 6pm – Basic Shotgun.  This class is a prerequisite for all NRA Certified Shotgun Instructor candidates.  This class may be purchased as a stand-alone, too.  This class is designed to teach the new shotgun shooter safety and the fundamentals of shooting a flying target.

Course fee if purchased individually:  $259.

 

Friday, July 15 - 8am to 6pm - Certified Shotgun Instructor.  Students must have successfully completed both Basic Shotgun and Basic Instructor Training (BIT) to enroll.  Candidates may purchase the Thursday Basic Shotgun class  the Tuesday BIT class to fulfill these prerequisites.

Course fee if purchased individually:  $359.

Saturday, July 16 - 8am to 6pm - Certified Range Safety Officer.  Students certify to supervise safe shooting activities and events.

Course fee if purchased individually:  $259.

            Shotshells must be purchased at the Club due to environmental restrictions.  

            Shotshells are priced at approximately $10/box for 12 or 20 ga and 15/box for 28 ga. (you will need to buy two boxes)

            Tokens are $12 each for non-RR&G members and $7 for RR&G members (you will need to buy two tokens)

 

Friday – NRA Certified Shotgun Instructor

            Shotgun (suitable for trap/skeet)

            Eye and ear protection

            Sack lunch, snacks & personal hydration           

            Notepad, highlighter and pen

            Laptop (we will provide you with a digital copy of the lesson plan)

            If your laptop/tablet has a USB port, bring a USB drive and we will download the lesson plan on it for you.

            Folding chair (optional)

            Shotshells must be purchased at Club due to environmental restrictions.  Instructor candidates will need to purchase a minimum of two              boxes @ approximately $10/box.  You will need more if you require additional attempts (up to two) to qualify.

            Tokens are $12 each for non-RR&G members and $7 for RR&G members.  Instructor candidates will need to purchase a minimum of                two tokens.   You will need to purchase more if you require additional attempts (up to two) to qualify.

Although you do not need to be an NRA member to become a Certified Instructor, NRA Members receive discounts on activation and bi-annual Certified Instructor credentials, we must have your NRA member number by the day of the class.  Please be sure your name, address, and phone number are correct on your membership.  To join, call NRA Membership at 800-672-3888.  Please be sure to get your member number while you are on the phone with membership so as to have it by the class day.
