This series includes all the prerequisites to become certified as an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and/or an NRA Certified CCW Instructor.  Earn extra money or start your own business as a firearms instructor.  The industry is wide open and there are many opportunities for new instructors.   Defensive Accuracy, LLC has been training the trainers for over 14 years.  Only NRA Certified Instructors are eligible for Lockton Affinity's Instructor Plus Insurance.

Prerequisites

​

All NRA Certified Pistol instructor candidates must successfully complete an NRA Certified Basic Pistol class and the Basic Instructor Training (BIT) class to be eligible to attend the Wednesday Certified Pistol Instructor to earn the rating as an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor.  We are offering these prerequisite classes on Monday and Tuesday with the instructor class being on Wednesday, at the same location.

All NRA Certified CCW instructor candidates must be current NRA Certified Pistol Instructors or, if not, complete the Monday BIT class and the Tuesday and Wednesday Certified Pistol Basic/Instructor classes to satisfy the prerequisite.  CCW Instructor candidates must successfully complete the prescribed two-day CCW basic/instructor course to earn the rating as an NRA Certified CCW Instructor.

All instructor candidates must either complete BIT on Tuesday, or have successfully completed BIT within the last two years, as evidenced by a course completion certificate signed by the Training Counselor.

Course fees include all student text materials, range fees, targets, complimentary bottled water, coffee, and morning snacks.

The schedule of training and mandatory equipment is as follows:

Monday - NRA Certified Basic Pistol  10am - 6pm

    Notepad, pen and highlighter

    Handgun (any caliber .22 and up with iron sights, fiber optic, or non-magnified red dot optics)

    100 rounds of ammo 

    Eye and electronic ear protection

    Closed toe shoes

    Ballcap

    Sack lunch and personal hydration

    Handgun cleaning kit

Tuesday - Basic Instructor Training (BIT) 10am - 4pm

Thursday and Friday - NRA Certified Basic & Instructor CCW  10am - 7pm both days

    Handgun (minimum .38 caliber/9mm or larger with iron, fiber optic, or non-magnified red dot optics)

    250 rounds of ammo (total for both days)

    Strong-side Outside-the-waistband (OWB) kydex belt holster (note:  we recommend Red Hill Tactical,

    Blade-tech or similar type holsters that are friction fit, moulded kydex.  No Blackhawk Serpas allowed.)

    Twin magazine belt carrier or speedloader pouches

    Pants with belt loops.  Tactical pants with thigh pockets for extra ammo preferred

    Belt that fits holster and belt loops on pants snugly 

    Closed-toe sport shoes or boots

    Ballcap

    Eye and electronic ear protection

    Front opening jacket of medium weight or a heavy weight shirt that covers holstered handgun.  Do not bring a      lightweight shirt, sweatshirt or light weight windbreaker, as they may get hung up in your holster.
