The California Department of Justice now accepts the instructor credential of NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home as meeting the requirements to apply for DOJ CCW Instructor.  The DOJ CCW Instructor candidate must also possess the NRA Basic Pistol and NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home ratings.

Candidates for this week's Personal Protection Instructor Series must already possess the NRA Basic Pistol instructor rating.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

Handgun (9mm or .38 caliber or larger).  Full size or compact recommended. 

3 magazines

200 rounds ammo for PPITH and 400 rounds ammo for PPOTH 

Strong-side, Outside the Waistband (OWB) belt holster.  We recommend Bladetech or Vedder holsters.

Sturdy belt that fits your pants belt loops and holster snugly.

Tactical style pants with cargo pockets for extra ammo.

Closed toe shoes

Eye protection

Electronic hearing protection (must be amplified).  We recommend Howard Leight or Walkers.

Brimmed hat

Front opening cover garment that covers holstered handgun.  Should be of medium weight.

Kneepads

Notepad, pen and highlighter

Laptop with charger

Folding chair (optional)

Sack Lunch recommended (there are some fast food places nearby, too.)

At least one alternative carry device (i.e. purse, murse, briefcase, shoulder, appendix, IWB).​

We will provide complimentary coffee, breakfast snacks and bottled water.

TRAINING SCHEDULE

 

Monday, August 5, 2024 – NRA Certified Personal Protection Inside the Home – 8am to 5pm

This class is a mandatory prerequisite for the Tuesday NRA Certified Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor course.

Tuesday, August 6, 2024 – NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor 

8am to 5pm  

Candidates must already possess the NRA Basic Pistol rating and must have successfully completed BIT within the last 24 months. (We have a BIT class available in San Leandro on July 23 at no charge to students enrolled in PPIH and/or PPOH this week).

Wednesday thru Friday, August 7-9, 2024 - NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Basic and Instructor 8am to 5pm each day

Prerequisites apply.  Candidates must have successfully completed NRA Certified Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor.  Candidates must have successfully completed BIT within the last 24 months.  (We have a BIT classe available in San Leandro on July 23 at no charge to students enrolled in PPIH and/or PPOH this week).
