COYOTE VALLEY SPORTING CLAYS

1000 San Bruno Avenue

Morgan Hill, CA 95037

This CCW class is our two-day, 16 hour, premium course which teaches the skills necessary to safely carry a concealed firearm in public.  This course includes live-fire range training and presentation from the holster.  Students will learn to safely present from the holster, techniques for clearing malfunctions, emergency reloads, drawing from concealment, turns, one-handed shooting, and more.  This is the class you want to take to sharpen your skills!

This class is approved training for the following issuing authorities, who require 16 hours of training:

Santa Clara SO, Concord PD, Marin SO, San Joaquin SO, Sonoma SO, Novato PD, Napa PD, Napa SO, Yolo SO, Sacramento SO, Pleasant HIll PD, and Central Marin PD

Special Notes:

Sonoma County Sheriff's Office applicants:  You must apply first and receie approval from the Sheriff's office prior to taking the training.

Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office requires training within 90 days of approval.  Best practice is to apply and receive approval prior to training.

This class is also approved and will also satisfy the requirements for the following issuing authorities who require a minimum of 8 hours of training:  (If you want more training, or are new to shooting, we highly recommend this coursework.)

Contra Costa SO*, Solano SO, San Mateo SO,  Amador SO, Calaveras SO, El Dorado SO, Placer SO, and Nevada Co. SO

All issuing agencies shown above are processing CCW applicants in a timely fashion and in accordance with the June 23 SCOTUS ruling.  Due to the extreme demand we are experiencing for our classes, we are only accepting applicants for the above listed agencies.  If you have any questions, please call Denise at 408-687-3791.

San Mateo SO, Sonoma SO, and Solano SO applicants must apply first at the Sheriff's Office and get approval before enrolling in class.

Remember, with all issuing authorities, you still have to pass a background check to be issued a CCW in California.  Failure to pass the background check will result in denial of your CCW application.  If you take the training prior to being approved, there are no refunds if you are denied.

As an added bonus, these classes include the approved training for the non-resident Utah, Arizona, Florida and Virginia!   Due to reciprocity agreements, each of these permits are recognized in 32-33 states outside of California.   Carry confidently in the following states:

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming

Applications and mailing envelopes for Utah and Arizona are provided at class.  Applications for Florida and Virginia can be found by clicking on these blue hyperlinks.  The Utah, Arizona, and Virginia non-resident permits are valid for five years, and the Florida permit is valid for seven years.  There is an application fee, paid to the respective issuing state, at the time of application.  They are value priced at $62.25 for Utah, $60 for Arizona, $100 for Virginia and $97 for Florida.

Fingerprinting services for the Utah and Arizona permits are available at the class for a modest fee of $25 per card.  If you want both Utah (needs 1 card) and Arizona (needs 2 cards), you will need to bring $75 cash.

Submit your application to the county in which you reside, using the appropriate blue hyperlink shown above and then register for a class.

Day One of this two day class takes place in an outdoor country setting at Coyote Valley Sporting Clays.  Complimentary coffee, breakfast snacks, and bottled water are provided.  Students learn the legal considerations for carrying a concealed handgun, including a comprehensive look into the laws regarding the use of lethal force, civil and criminal liability, carry restrictions, and more.

Day Two of this two-day class is also outdoors at Coyote Valley Sporting Clays and students will learn to safely present the handgun from the holster, perform emergency reloads, clear malfunctions, address threats to the side and rear, how to apply the fundamentals of shooting to result in accurate fire, and more.

Students should be familiar with the basic operation of their handgun and basic handgun safety prior to enrolling in this class.  We strongly recommend that new handgun owners first complete our Beginner's Pistol Introduction or our Women's Beginner Pistol Introduction class. (Available at our Dublin location.)

Completion of this course also provides sufficient proof of training for the Arizona, Florida, Virginia and Utah non-resident CCW permits, too.  These non-resident permits are available, by mail, to law-abiding California residents and together are recognized in these 33 states outside of California:

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

Utah, Arizona, Florida, and Virginia are “shall issue” to those applicants who clear the required background check, and application is done by mail.  These permits are valid in 33 states.  You do not need to apply at each state.  For example, Utah alone will give you 32 states, outside of California, that you can carry in.  You do not need to have the California permit to be eligible for these non-resident permits.   Applications for the Utah and Arizona permits are provided and completed during the class.  Students can download the applications for Florida and Virginia by clicking on these blue hyperlinks.

Fingerprinting services are available at the class for a modest fee of $25 per card.  If you want both Utah (needs 1 card) and Arizona (needs 2 cards), you will need to bring $75 cash.

Course fee includes all range fees, targets, and Certificate of Training.  Complimentary bottled water, coffee and breakfast snacks are provided.
